Hiking in Tramin and surroundings

WATER, WINE AND WALKING

Hiking at all altitudes, for all levels of fitness, over field and dale, through woodland and meadows, and a variety of countryside from the 'mountainous' to the 'southern'. Through apple orchards and vineyards in sunny valleys, through cool forests on hillsides up to the rocky realms of the mountains and summit crosses. Whether high altitude paths, forest roads, gravel paths, easy tracks, stony steep inclines – Tramin is hiking country. Walking upwards from the valley to enjoy the view and unique countryside is a really special experience.

WALKING BY THE WATER, WALKING WITH VIEWS

The walk to the lake at Kaltern is a wonderfully sunny one. Rastenbachklamm takes you up a cool ravine via a series of steps, bridges and ladders to idyllic Altenburg, while slightly further up, on nearby Fennberg, there are charming walks around the Fenner See lake. The Choleraweg path involves less effort and features ancient stories along the way, and there's the wonderful Traminer Höhenweg high altitude path. A popular destination is Gummererhof farm.

LAKES, BETWEEN MOUNTAIN AND VALLEY

There is a range of worthwhile walking destinations to be viewed from 'Konzl' viewing platform. Great discoveries can be made in the mountains across the valley. The impressive Bletterbachschlucht gorge (UNESCO World Heritage Site), both Weißhorn and Schwarzhorn mountain peaks, along with wonderful Trudner Horn Nature Park await with their abundance of paths, tracks and routes. The Nature Park features altitudes ranging between 220m and 1,700m above sea level and its 400km of marked paths make it a real hiker's paradise. The sunny slope that the wine village of Tramin rests on also features lots of interesting paths up to Monte Roen affording great views.
